Welcome aboard! We are Barnaby (8) and Zennor (8) and we would like to invite you to join us on our adventures aboard our sailing boat, ‘Mowzer’.
Three years ago, our parents hatched a plan to escape the security of our conventional lives in London, for an adventure at sea. We have been busy saving, upskilling and dreaming big in preparation for our departure in the Summer of 2021. Our main motivation is to have fun together, but we hope also to learn some new skills, meet some cool people, visit some awesome places and have some mega adventures along the way.

Dad /Angus grew up on a boat, all be it one without sails or an engine. His early years were dominated by life afloat with his dad racing and working as a yacht broker and his mum constantly repairing the wooden boat. He even featured in an article for Practical Boat Owners in 1975. Growing up, Dad acquired plumbing, electrical and woodworking skills and became competent using power tools whilst most of his peers were still playing with Action Men. As a grown up, he accidentally fell into a career in media and took up triathlons and running in a big way. Now though, he is looking forward to leaving all that behind, and returning to his salty roots. Dad will be co-skippering ‘Mowzer’ and is chief fixer.
Mum/ Zoe was the love child of a Cornish pirate and a French anarchist. She spent her first birthday on the North Sea and later spent more of her childhood on / under / in the sea than on land. In her teens she sailed aboard the Sir Winston Churchill sail training schooner and later spent her university summers sailing around northern Europe. After graduating, she spent several years sailing full time, including a traditional trade wind route from the UK to New Zealand. The return leg was rather less traditionally through the North-West Passage, via Alaska, Arctic Canada and Greenland. To date, Zoe has amassed 45,000 sea miles. Mum is also an NHS nurse with a background in A&E where she learned useful skills that she hopes never to have to use at sea. Mum will be co-skippering Mowzer and is chief medic.
Barnaby aka Twin 1 was born curious and with an insatiable desire to understand all things mechanical and electrical. Barnaby loves animals, dancing, running and sushi. When he grows up, he wants to be an inventor. Barnaby is our Chief Engineer.
Zennor aka Twin 2 / Zendog was born to be in charge. Zennor loves riding his bike, whistling, cracking secret codes and eating mangos. When he grows up, Zennor wants to be a spy. Zennor is our Chief Security Officer.
